Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Currently, temporomandibular joint disorders have been increasing due to daily stress and even more so in post-pandemic times.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • What is the temporomandibular joint?<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The TMJ is the joint that joins the jaw to the skull. This union allows us to open and close our mouth when we speak, yawn and\/or chew.<\/p>\n

    TMJ disorders (TMD) are pathologies that we can divide into two main groups:<\/p>\n

    1. Intra-articular: which are those that directly affect the structures that form the joint.<\/li>\n
    2. Extra-articular: these are those that affect the facial muscles, mainly the 4 muscles of chewing, and can even cause painful syndromes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      These disorders can affect and cause headaches, neck pain, ear pain, facial pain, and chewing difficulties.<\/span><\/p>\n
